ICC Annual Meeting - To Begin New Format Of Cricket

The board’s most significant decision being, announcing the crowd pulling CT13 to be the last of its kind.
"The ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales was highly acclaimed and appreciated by all. However, the principle of one pinnacle global event for each of the three formats over a four-year cycle is a good one and, as such, the ICC Board has agreed to replace the Champions Trophy with the ICC World Test Championship," Richardson was quoted as saying in the press release.
Champions Trophy won’t be organized any more, instead an all new format tournament - The World Test Championship – will be held in England, June-July 2017 being its inaugural edition.

The ICC media release states "The IDI Board confirmed that the ICC World Test Championship will be staged in 2017 and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will host the inaugural event in June/July 2017, while the second edition will be held in India in February/March 2021." ICC's chief executive David Richardson also put the speculations to rest about ICC Champions Trophy being continued.
So, there would be one T20, ODI and Test format championship each to provide equal importance to all the versions.

Venues of some upcoming tournaments were finalized upon, wherein India got the responsibility and opportunity to host 3 major ICC events in the next 10 years, namely- T20 WC 2016,The Test championship 2021 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The venue for ICC T20 World Cup 2014 remains to be decided Bangladesh being the first choice, WI and SL also queued up.

In order to ensure that all ODIs played over the four-year cycle between ICC Cricket World Cups count up towards a team's ranking, the ICC Board agreed to alter the ODI rankings period from three years to four years span.
For the sake of uniformity, the ICC Board also agreed to change the reckoning of the T20 rankings to cover the same period.

Some other remarkable matters to be highlighted are:

  • Skipper disappointed as Pakistan miss out on any ICC occasion till 2023 Pakistan has not hosted any international cricket since the 2009 Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan team.

The country did not get any major event to host in the schedule finalised during the ICC Annual Conference in London last week.
Disappointed with the ICC's decision to not award any major event to Pakistan till 2023, national captain Misbah-ul-Haq held responsible his team's recent slide on the lack of international cricket in the strife-torn country.

"There is no doubt this team has suffered a lot because of no international cricket being played in Pakistan and to learn now that there are no international events until 2023 is very disappointing news for me," spoke the captain.

  • Accused BCCI president, Srinivasan attends ICC annual meet via video-link(spurces says):

Under-fire BCCI president N Srinivasan put an end to rumors by making his existence felt at the International Cricket Council annual conference in London on Saturday. He attended one of the sub-committee meetings via a video-link.

"Yes, Srinivasan attended the Finance and Commercial Affairs meeting of the ICC via video-conference. He took an active part in that meeting as it is one of the most important sub-committees of the ICC. Srinivasan attended the meeting by virtue of being an ICC member," a senior BCCI spokesperson revealed on the condition of anonymity.

Srinivasan's turnout at the ICC meet also made it obvious that he is in no frame of mind to take a softer line and is waiting for the two-man committee investigates to clear him of misconduct in the Indian Premier League betting scandal.

  • Afghanistan approved International Cricket Council Associate membership

Afghanistan was granted the Associate membership of the International Cricket Council at the governing body's annual conference in London on June 28 (Friday). The announcement follows a request made by the Asian Cricket Council last year, in lieu of the massive strides the country has taken in the development of the game at all levels.

The elevation means Afghanistan, who has risen from an affiliate to associate membership in just 12 years, will receive an annual financial support of US$850,000.

Along the way, Afghanistan have also been beneficiaries of ICC's Target Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP), an initiative aimed at assisting the lower ranked Full Members and higher ranked associate and affiliate countries, entitling them to a grant of US$ 422,000 to develop cricket at the grassroots stage.

  • New PCB chief Najam Sethi desires to bargain the Mohammad Amir ban

Amir, regarded as hot asset in international cricket for his pace and craftiness, was barred with team-mates Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif in February 2011 by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Pakistan's provisional cricket chief said on Monday he would ask the sport's governing body to reduce a five-year ban against promising fast bowler Mohammad Amir for spot fixing.

  • Paul Reiffel: Thrilled to be in ICC's elite umpire panel

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Reiffel's promotion on Tuesday following numerous strong seasons as one of the leading umpires in Australia. Reiffel joins Australian colleagues Rod Tucker, Bruce Oxenford and Steve Davis on the panel of 12 umpires.
Former Australian fast bowler Paul Reiffel on Wednesday expressed his excitement on being promoted to ICC's Elite Panel of Umpires.
Speaking about his promotion, Reiffel explained: "When I first started umpiring after retiring from first-class cricket, my aim was to reach the highest level of international umpiring. It always seemed a long way off. So, it's very rewarding and exciting to achieve the goal I set myself when I first started umpiring."

INDIA Looses Its Winning Streak!!!

Even after thrashing West Indies in the group stages of the recently concluded Champions Trophy in England, India started their Celkon cup campaign with a loss against the same opponent, this time them being the host.
Weather predictions stated overcast conditions for the day and a probability of shower, but like the previous match between WI and SL, this time also we had an uninterrupted match last night.
Captain Dwayne Bravo with pace spearhead Ravi Rampaul was out of the team due to injuries, where Pollard was chosen as the stand in captain.
West Indies won the toss and India being put to bat first got off to a flier until a caught and bowled by Kemar Roach resulted in Dhawan’s wicket.Virat Kohli also got out soon by a spectacular catch of Chrish Gayle. Wickets kept falling at regular interval, and the worst scenario was faced by the team when their captain, Mahendra Dhoni injured his right leg in course of running between the wickets.
Except for Rohit Sharma no remarkable batting performance marked India. Sharma scored an 89 balls 60 and in an effort to up the run rate of the team, played a loose shot and paid with his wicket when India was struggling at 124 for 3 in the 31st over.
The target fixed by the visitors was 230 as India ended their innings at 229/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

As injured captain could not take on the field, reserve wicket keeper Dinesh Kartik put on his gloves and youngster Kohli marshaled Dhoni’s troops as the stand in captain.
In return to India’s average batting show, West Indies lost early wickets in form of Gayle, Devon Smith and Marlon Samuels      subject to tremendous bowling effort from Umesh Yadav and Bhuvanwesh Kumar.
Later, Johnson Charles(97) and Darren Bravo(55) stuck to the wicket and developed a 116 runs stand which led the Windies to achieve the total in 47.4 overs at the loss of 9 wickets with extended effort from the lower order as well.

The final result declares West Indies as winners by 1 wicket and Johnson Charles was declared the Man of the match for his batting blow.

Match Review On CELKON MOBILE CUP 2013 !!!!

Immediately after the triumphant Indian cricket team returned from England after thrashing the hosts in a breathtaking final contest, Dhoni and Co. had to take off to West Indies for yet another combat.
The same squad that was part of the title triumph last Sunday, with the exemption of Irfan Pathan whose hamstring injury gave Shami Ahmed his first overseas assignment with India, are in the West Indies gearing up for a tri-series to be played from 30th June to July 11th wherein 3 major cricketing giants participate – Windies being the hosts, Sri Lanka and India.
The tri-series will have each team facing the other two twice in the preliminary stage to determine which teams will contest for the trophy in the final at Port of Spain on July 11.
The Indian campaign in the recently ended champion’s trophy showcased young talent and their evergreen form followed by their praiseworthy performances. The fact being every player in the squad got a match, and every individual contributed to the success.
"What is very important for us is not to look too far ahead. We will take it series by series," Dhoni said. "We just finished a world tournament in the UK and now we are in the West Indies. First, we will have to see the two teams which are ahead of us. The performance was really good in UK but we need to continue."
The likes of Dhawan and Jadeja, are expected to keep up their good form and show up in this trivial battle. Dhoni, who has become the first captain to win the World Cup, the World Twenty20 and the Champions Trophy, accredited the team's success to a dressing-room atmosphere that thrived on each other's performances.
"I'm fortunate to have the players in the side to really soak up the pressure. What we have done really well is we have enjoyed each other's success and that has really contributed to the side winning most of the games," he said. "If I'm happier than the person who has actually scored a century or a fifty, you understand that's the kind of atmosphere that you want, because at the end of the day, what we play is a team sport." Says the captain.
India met and bet both WI and SL in group stages and semi finals of CT13 respectively. Eventually, India outnumbered their opponents in every single match.
So, vengeance is what the other to teams will be thinking about and they won’t miss any chance to bounce back.

WI and SL already met in the opening match of the series on 28th June resulting in a comprehensive win for the hosts at the Sabina Park on Friday.
The hosts have in fact, started strikingly in the series mauling Sri Lanka in their lung-opener. The biggest positive from the game was the return to form of Chris Gayle, who was somewhat off-color in the ICC event.

Gayle's prowling hundred, which integrated seven sixes and nine fours, helped the West Indies overhaul a 209-run target in a mere 37.5 overs. He would without hesitation be the backbone of the West Indian batting against India as well.
On the contrary, the Sri Lankan team’s performance was not remarkable except for captain Angelo Matthews’s 118 balls 55 and veteran Jayawardane’s 52 of 86 balls.
The KKR spin wizard Sunil Narine also remarkably grabbed 4 wickets in his allotted 10 overs quota with a significant economy of 4.00.This man will always have a few tricks up his sleeves while pacers Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul can be a handful as well in the match against India.

INDIA plays their first match against WI, who are playing at home for the first time under Dwayne Bravo's leadership, tonight at 8 p.m Indian time at the Sabina park, Jamaica.

Starting from K.G. where everyone was just very serene, had no grudges against future till the day when I passed out class 12 had a heaven & hell difference. I remember the last day of my schooldays where everyone was taking photographs with each other, giving best of luck for their future life but amidst the thing I really miss is the tiffin time in class XII-B.This is the fun which I'll never forget in my life ever.

We used to sit in the back benches and compete every morning for a place there just to chat with our friends, tell and cracked jokes for teachers but always were unhappy about the kind of study that prevailed there.Sharing tiffin among us and dividing a little bit of it into many a parts.Uhuh!!!lovely memories. But had a dream that one day we will see ourselves in a position which we dreamt in our schooldays,in our night dreams.

Poking nose in every small situations, calling friend's girlfriend as BHABI, giving slangs to each other.Uh!! such lovely experiences I had in my schooldays. Now we have just passed class 12, we will be scattered apart for the sake of further studies but friend's please pledge we never gotta put a wall on our friends company forever in our life.

SPAIN THROUGH TO THE CONFEDERATIONS CUP FINAL

The Euro & The WC Champions Spain are through to the Confederations Cup final to be played at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janiero on 30th June,2013 with rivals Spain.

The Spaniards started the game brightly but it was the Azurris who started to counter Spain & were dominant in the first half with a few shots on target testing Iker Casillas to a great extent. The first half ended goalless with a promise of plenty more to come in the second half.Spain started the second half dominating the ball and few on target shots easy for Italy's Buffon to deal with. Few tackles were known by both the teams in the midfield area with the scoreline 0-0 at the end of the 90 minutes of normal time.

Both the teams got their full time instructions right from their managers and it was Italy who came close to scoring it before the left back's effort struck off the post eventually relieving Spanish supporters. Spain too attacked strongly in the Italy's half posing frequent threats to G.G.Buffon. In the second half of the extra time Xavi's long ranger effort was again saved by Buffon which then struck off the bar post. A heart stopping moment for many Italy supporters. After that both teams got chances but failed to convert into goals.

Then came the tie breaker moment and Spain won the match with Bonucci missing from the spot, converted into goal by Jesus Navas and this guaranteed  Spain progress into the finals beating Italy 7-6 in penalties.

Here is the highlights of the match for those who missed it:
